In the Tiffinbox

Some of you might have noticed that I have a new section in my menu called Blog Stars. These are blogs that I not only visit everyday but also enjoy the most. I might as well lay out what I find interesting about them.

This is not meant to be a detailed review of these sites but more in the vein of why they fascinate me the most.

Tiffinbox graphicThe first one in this series is a wonderful blog by photographer, writer, artist and designer - Seshu Badrinath, called Tiffinbox. The graphic logo tells you in one quick glance all that this site is about. It figures an Indian Dabbawalla, a person who delivers food packed in tiffin boxes. A dabbawala is a common sight in most cities of India. Interestingly, the face on this graphic closely resembles Seshu. He got an artist friend of his to make a caricature for him.

I find Tiffinbox interesting for two reasons. I have a growing interest in learning photography as some of you have noticed through the sporadic mentions of entries that I post on my photolog. Tiffinbox has a whole collection of informative and fun links that one can use to delve deeper into enjoying this art form.

However, what makes Tiffinbox even more appealing to me is the character of the blog. It has a unique Indian-American flavor to it that lends to it a familiarity that any Indian living in the US can identify with. Seshu does an excellent job of meshing together his profession with contemporary issues faced by Americans and Indians in America in particular. That is what makes it an even more interesting read for me.

Over a period of time I will showcase some of the links from his site and also what I have learnt from them in terms of building my photography interests.

Ah, and I thought I might throw this in. Seshu also does photography for weddings and has more details on his site, Pipal Productions. No, he did not pay me to advertise this for him.

    Prashant,

It’s an honor to be called a blog star. Your glowing review has of course now squarely set me on the difficult task of meeting some very high expectations. I hope that with help from people like yourself who chime in with suggestions, information, comments or links, I will be able to do just that. Thank you for making Tiffinbox such an organic experience! :)
