It appears that some more tear hysteria might come your way if you reside in North India.

A priest in this holy city (Mathura) on Saturday claimed that a devotee in his temple saw tears rolling down the eyes of Lord Hanuman’s idol.

Priest Mahesh Gaur of the Ganga Temple, on the Mathura-Agra road, said the devotee told him that he saw the eyes of Lord Hanuman welling with tears when he entered the shrine in the morning.

This is quick on the heels of Shilpa’s tears that we all saw last week. That episode made it to the upper echelons of the desi blogosphere and is now a raging issue being discussed in government circles.

Is the Hanuman spike just waiting to happen?
